Zion and Bryce National Parks

We left Las Vegas on Friday, March 31st and drove through Lake Mead Recreation area to reach Mesquite, Nevada. We spent the night in a Casino parking lot. On Saturday we drove to a small town north of Cedar City, Utah. Our friends, Paul and Carol, were visiting their daughter during Carol's spring break from teaching school. So we parked in their driveway for 3 nights.

On Sunday Carol spent the day with her daughter while Paul, Bob, and I drove to Zion National Park. It was a really nice mild day. Lots of blue sky to set off the beauty of the red rocks. We did a hike up a canyon while there - crossing the stream about 20 times.

On Monday, all four of us drove to Bryce Canyon National Park. The drive was really beautiful - it took us over a 9000 foot pass where there was lots of snow - but none on the road. At Bryce we did the a hike called the Rim Trail. At Bryce when you hike, you hike down so that you can look up on the rocks and then of course, at the end - the hike involves hiking up out of the canyon. The hike up out of the canyon was on some snow, so we were glad we had done the loop in the direction where we weren't hiking down on the snow. I have to say that Bryce Canyon was georgous!! It was especially pretty with all the snow on it.

We left Cedar City on Tuesday morning and drove north to Hill AFB which is between Salt Lake City and Ogden, Utah. We're on our final leg home in getting to Washington.

Hello. I read your blog by chance. I find your history very beautiful. And as I am a (french) journalist I would like to make an article on your adventure. Is this possible? Friendships.
