Square Dancing RV'rs

Tortilla Flats, Arizona

We saw the new year in by attending a square dance. Since then we've square danced several times. There was a huge dance last Sunday afternoon with about 400 people. After the dance we went out for pizza with 3 other couples. One of the couples suggested we go together to Tortilla Flats the next afternoon.

Monday we drove east from Mesa to Tortilla Flats, population 6. We had lunch on the patio while listening to music. We then drove down Fish Creek pass to Roosevelt Dam. It was 22 miles on a dirt road. It was beautiful - lots of interesting rock formations and cactus and views of Canyon Lake. We were gone about 6 hours total for lunch and the drive.

Today, Tuesday, we have round dance lessons in the afternoon. We're also going to check out a couple of RV parks in case we come back here next year. The weather is suppose to be 76 today. So, should be a great day.

When I was a child, I thought square dancing was embarassing to watch. I think it was the sky blue skirts and cowboy hats that did it for me. But I've discovered it's a lot of fun, and the sky blue skirts and cowboy hats are not required.
