Canyonlands National Park - the Needles

Sunday morning we left Bluff, Utah and drove north to the Needles area of Canyonlands. We were hoping to pick up groceries in Blanding or Monticello, but no such luck. Both towns had grocery stores that were closed! So, we bought sandwiches at Subway and headed into Canyonlands National Park. I had chili and spaghetti sauce in the freezer so we didn't go hungry.

We spent Sunday and Monday nights in the campground at Canyonlands. It was a beautiful setting. On Sunday, we went to the amphitheater for a talk about the people who settled the area.

Monday morning it was rainy, but cleared up by about 10:00. After lunch we took a hike into an area called Chester Park. It was 6 miles round trip. There was a lot of uphill and navigating over rocks. We even walked through a slot canyon. It was a beautiful hike, but we were glad to finish it.

We've now moved to Moab, Utah. We stocked up on groceries today, so we're all set in that regard. Next on the agenda are Arches NP and Canyonlands Island in the Sky district.
