Florida wedding
On August 26th we flew to Orlando, Florida to attend a granddaughter's wedding. Our flight going and coming back on Northwest Airlines was perfect. Every leg (stopovers in Memphis) were on time.
We arrived late in the evening and picked up our 'compact' rental car. Turns out it was a blue Ford Mustang. It actually got pretty good mileage - about 27 miles to the gallon. We then headed to Bob's sister's condo in Palm Bay which is near Melbourne. Since his sister is up in New York for the summer, Bob had to retrieve the key from a neighbors shed and managed to drop his little flashlight through the fence. It was midnight so he was fumbling around trying to retrieve the light and hoping the neighbor wouldn't come out and shoot him. He was successful and retrieved the key and we were able to get into the condo.
Wednesday we did some shopping and got ready for our big day at SeaWorld. We were suppose to go with his daughter, Amy, and her three daughters, Amanda the granddaughter getting married and her 3 year old son, and another granddaughter, Kayla. However, one of Amy's daughters got sick so only Amanda, Kayla, and Logan (greatgrandson) went with us. We had a good day, but it was very HOT! We watched Logan while Amanda and Kayla rode on the Kraken (a big, scary roller coaster).
Friday we drove north to Amanda's home and then attended the rehearsal and then the rehearsal dinner. The dinners was at the grooms' sister's house. It was outside with tiki lights, a big canvas tent, balloons, etc. There was a really nice catered dinner. We enjoyed visiting with Amanda's dad and his wife.
Saturday we headed to Epcot Center. We had lunch in Mexico, dessert in Norway, and wine in Italy. We also rode on Test Track a ride that is suppose to simulate a car test drive with speeds up to 60 miles an hour. We had been to Epcot before but it was many years ago, so it was fun to do some of the new stuff plus the old stuff. We did the 'Soarin' ride which is so popular at the California Adventure park.
Can't visit Florida without a beach walk, right? In the morning we drove to the ocean and took a walk on the beach. While on our walk we came across some folks "helping?" some TURTLE hatchlings out to the waves. Not legal!
The wedding was at 4:00p.m. We really enjoyed the wedding. Amanda and Robert (the bride and groom) have two children, Logan and Lantry, so it was nice to see them get married. The location of the wedding was a park on the Intercoastal - a body of water between the mainland and the outer peninsula. The reception included an open bar, a catered dinner, and a DJ to keep the activities moving.
Monday we went to Discovery Cove. This is a park associated with Sea World where you can swim with dolphins although we didn't do that package. It's a very laid back park with a float down the lazy river, an aviary, snorkeling through the tropical fish and rays, and lounging on the beach. The package includes a day at SeaWorld, plus a continental breakfast and a hot lunch.
