Mississippi River Cruise

We took a trip down the Mississippi River on the American Queen paddle wheel boat.  We started our trip by flying to Nashville where we spent 4 nights.  While in Nashville we visited the Belle Meade Plantation and the Grand Ole Opry.  We drove from Nashville to Memphis which is where the river cruise started.

In Memphis we visited Graceland and the Civil Rights Museum.  The Civil Rights Museum is the motel where Martin Luther King was shot.  We had a outside cabin on the American Queen.  It was lovely to sit outside (when it wasn't too hot!).  One evening we watched a heat lightning storm for over an hour.  It was very impressive and beautiful.

The cruise stopped in Vicksburg, St. Franciseville, Natchez, Baton Rouge, and ended in New Orleans.  We spent two nights in New Orleans. While there we took a tour of the city, road the streetcars, and visited Mardis Gras World where we saw how the floats are made.
