Food in Europe

While we were in Europe, I did a couple of quick postings to say where we were, but didn't add too many details.

In this blog, I am going to describe some of the different foods we ate. We started in the Netherlands where out first meal on the tour was Indonesian. We spent a day in Amsterdam before the tour started where we had Dutch pancakes. The pancakes can be sweet or savory. We had a cheese, mushroom, ham pancake for lunch - which we shared. While on tour one day in Amsterdam we were lucky enough to have White Asparagus soup - delicious.

We next toured south into Germany where we had white asparagus, chicken, and roasted potatoes for our night there. We also sampled some of the riesling wine from the area near Bacharach.

The next really outstanding meal we had was in Florence. We had beef topped with Argula on our tour. The next night Connie had some excellent Brushetta. Bread topped with fresh tomatoes and basil and olive oil. Bob had an excellent steak that night.

In the Cinque Terre, Italy we went to a nice seafood restauraunt. Connie had pesto pasta (pesto is a specialty of the region) and Bob had a seafood platter.

In Switzerland we had an afternnon snack (happy hour) of Cheese fondue. We had been wanting to try it - and it was yummy. France brought us to the land of croissants and quiche. Also, we had french onion soup and beef burgundy.

It was so much fun trying the food and wine of the different regions.
