Happy Thanksgiving

Hope everyone reading this blog had a good holiday. We enjoyed the day in our new home. We had all the traditional stuff - turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, potato parkerhouse rolls, apple and pumpkin pie.

After dinner Connie and Brian played 3 games of cribbage. This time Brian beat Connie 2 of the 3 games.

The weather is cold an sunny. The high hills are topped with a sprinkling of snow. We're pretty much settled into the house, although there is still work to be done. Our fifth wheel is parked on the street and needs to be cleared out and winterized. We can't park it next to the house yet because we need to have some gravel put down. That will happen next week.

New home in Wenatchee

It's a done deal.

Buddy LOVES his new home and so do we. Most of all is the heart warming fun of watching him stretch out and/or race around inside the house. He is sooooooo Happy to be here. And so then are we.!!!!!!

We closed on the house on Thursday, November 15th. We headed over the pass as planned on the train on Wednesday, cleared out our storage unit, picked up groceries and prescriptions at the Navy Base, and picked up stuff at a friend's home in Granite Falls. It didn't go excatly as planned, but it did go pretty well. The train was late - very late. We didn't get to Everett until 10:30 and didn't get our rental truck until 11:30. So, it was noon by the time we got to the storage unit. Luckily Connie's son, Brian, had an interview in Marysville that morning, with Milgard Windows, so he drove over the pass also and was able to help us. He came to the storage unit and helped Bob load it up. In the meantime Connie headed to Marysville to the BX/commissary facility there using Brian's car. The guys finished the loading and headed to Granite Falls, and we met up in Monroe for a very late lunch. We were back in Wenatchee by about 6:00. Turns out the trip over the pass was good - Brian has been offered a job at Milgard Glass. He has accepted the job, but isn't sure when he starts.

Thursday afternoon we unloaded the rental truck and then headed back to Entiat to get some stuff from Brian's and Toddi's storage unit. Since Brian and Toddi are living in a shop (hoping to eventually build a home on the property) we're going to store/use some of their stuff to save them the cost of the storage unit.

We've been busy getting things setup. The fridge is in place, the washer and dryer are hooked up and working, the TV is setup with Direct TV satelite, the internet has been installed, some items have been transferred from the fifth wheel to the house, and we're actually living in our home. It is all a lot of work. Top things to do on Bob's list are to reassemble the dining room table and hookup the icemaker/in door water on the fridge. Connie's list include getting ready to cook Thanksgiving day dinner. Happy T-day to all who read this blog!

We're having the side yard/parking area worked on and gravel put in so that we can get the fifth wheel parked next to the house. Soon we will post some pictures. We're happy with the house. There are a couple of things that need fixing, but that is to be expected.

Happy Veterans Day!

We're back in Entiat waiting for our new home to be finished. We're suppose to close on Friday, the 16th. We had our new hot tub delivered last Thursday and even gave it a try on Friday night.

We've been busy the last couple of weeks. We headed to Seaside, Oregon for a square dance weekend on October 26th. It was a two day event held at the convention center in downtown Seaside. We stayed just north of Seaside at Camp Rilea - a small military training camp. While there we visited Ft. Stevens State park and took a bike ride, visited Lewis and Clark National Park (didn't even know it existed), and walked on the beach near Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach. The weather was pretty nice all week, so we were lucky in that regard. We also purchased two new TV's at Costco in Warrenton. We also saw lots of elk near our camping spot.

From Seaside, we headed to Vancouver, Washington for another weekend square dance event. This was a plus level weekend that was lots of fun and very challenging. The callers sure put us through our paces. We danced Friday night, Friday morning from 10 to 12, Saturday afternoon from 1:30 to 3, Saturday evening, and again Sunday morning. We were also able to catch up with a square dance friend (Bob Perkins) who lives in the Vancouver area. We enjoyed visiting with him and having dinner out with him both Friday and Saturday evening.

Sunday we headed back to Wenatchee. We stayed at Confluence State Park for the week. This morning we headed up to Connie's son's home in Entiat. We're planning to take the train to Everett on Wednesday morning, get a bus to the Budget truck rental place, load up our storage unit stuff, stop at the commissary in Smokey Point (Marysville), pick up some stuff in Granite Falls and head over the pass. We really hope it's not snowing that day!
