Christmas 2008

We had a very nice Christmas. On Christmas Eve we had our neighbors over for a turkey dinner. On Christmas day we went to son, Brian's home. We enjoyed our day with Brian and Toddi, her parents, John and Sheryl, and grandson, Hudson. They fixed a nice ham dinner. Hudson was very cute - crawling all over the place. He especially liked the bows off of the packages. The weather was cold with snow on the ground, but no new snow.

For Christmas I gave Bob the cutest gift. At Costco (and other places) you can upload pictures and make a calendar. So, I found various pictures of Buddy which I uploaded to the website. Then I picked a picture for each month. I also was able to pick the background (lots of kitty prints). Bob was thrilled with his gift. Bob gave me a certificate to have a massage, pedicure, manicure, and a facial. My day of beauty should be fun.

We had snow last night - about 2 - 3 inches. I shoveled the driveway first thing this morning. It was beautiful and sunny today - it's 19 degrees this evening. We're headed to a square dance tonight. Happy New Year to all!

December 2008

I haven't written much lately, so need to get back to writing again. We had a nice Thanksgiving at son, Brian's home. Toddi's mom and dad from Anacortes enjoyed the day with us as well. Brian and Toddi cooked a very nice dinner with some new and different recipes. I like having someone else do the cooking.

We've been taking care of Hudson while Toddi has been working at the school in Entiat. She is working every afternoon so we have Hudson about 3 or 4 days a week for about 4 hours. The good part of this is that he usually sleeps for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. He is so quick - crawls very fast everywhere. We really have to make sure he isn't getting into anything, like the cat food and water, and now the Christmas tree. Buddy our cat will have a challenging time to get out of his way real soon.

Speaking of a Christmas tree - we went up to Blewett Pass last weekend and got our tree using the $5.00 National Forest tree cutting permit. Unfortunately, we tore up our outside rear tire on the dually truck and now have to replace it. And, since it was a dually we were able to drive home without having to change the tire. But, that's okay because in looking at the tires they all need to be replaced anyway.

Thursday we went to Leavenworth to meet Mike and Betty Strong friends from our old hometown of Everett. When we lived in Everett we used to come over to Leavenworth with this couple and spend a couple nights at the Enzian Inn in Leavenworth,Wa. We enjoyed visiting with them, eating at a favorite Italian restaurant - Viscontis, and spending the night at the Enzian Inn.

Friday morning we received our first snowfall of the year. We have 3 or 4 inches out there. It snowed most of Friday and Saturday. Saturday afternoon we drove to Yakima to attend a square dance. It was pretty snowy out and since it's a two plus hour drive we were asking ourselves what we were thinking. But, we arrived safely, had dinner at the hall with dancers, enjoyed the dance, and then spent the night with some Yakima square dancers that we know.
