Hudson born February 28, 2008

Our newest grandson entered the world at 12:30 a.m. weighing in at 8 lb 11 oz and 20 inches long. He has lots of dark hair. Our daughter-in-law, Toddi, had really wanted to have the baby on the 28th and somehow she managed to do it. Her water broke very early on the morning of the 27th and she went to the hospital around 10:00 a.m.

We spent most of the day at home waiting on the progress. Brian called us at midnight and said the baby would be there in about 1/2 an hour. So, we dressed and headed over to the hospital. About 1:00 a.m. we were invited into the room to see the new arrival.

The baby is doing very well. He is a beautiful baby and we're happy to have him as a new member of our family.

Us on top of Saddlerock

Friends visited us for the long weekend

Bob returned safely from his trip to Florida on February 12th. His only hitch was that his flight left from Orlando about 2 hours late. He arrived in Seattle about 7 P.M. The day he arrived I drove over the passes in the morning and had lunch with two prior co-workers from the bank where I used to work. I then drove to another prior co-workers home in Bellevue where we had a good couple hour visit. After picking up Bob we drove to Everett and spent the night in the Navy Lodge. The next morning we took granddaughter, Nichole, and a friend out for breakfast. We picked up our prescriptions, did some shopping at the commissary and BX and then headed over the pass back to Wenatchee.

Friday evening our friends, Paul and Carol, arrived for a visit. After breakfast on Saturday, we headed up to Mission Ridge to snowshoe. Unfortunately, my snowshoe broke on the trip, but the snow was pretty compact, so getting back to the trailhead wasn't too bad. Sunday we drove up the Entiat river for another snowshoe (see the pictures) and Monday we climbed Saddlerock. It was really a muddy sloppy mess on that trail. Paul and Carol headed for home and we collapsed into the hot tub. That evening we went square dancing.

Over the weekend we noticed that our fifth wheel was sinking into the mud. When we moved into the house we tried to have some gravel put down, but the person who was going to do it never came out. He was going to move some of the dirt and then put down the gravel. But the ground froze before he could do it. We put the trailer on some cement block and it was fine all winter. But just recently the block that were under the front landing jacks broke and those jacks sunk about 8 inches into the mud. Bob wasn't sure how he was going to get the trailer out of there. Fortunately the dirt has started to firm up - it's clay so gets hard as a rock. He was able to back the truck up and hitch it up and raise the landing jacks. We still haven't moved the fifth wheel, but at least it's not sunk into the mud. We're planning a trip this spring, probably leaving on March 20th, so we need to have our fifth wheel operational.

My mom who lives in Arizona celebrated her 85th birthday with a surprise birthday party given by my dad. They had pizza and birthday cake. She has bronchitis so wasn't feeling too well. We hope she gets better soon!

Happy Thursday

I can't post any pictures since Bob has the camera with him on his trip. He has a had a great trip. On Saturday he drove to Daytona Beach where he saw his new granddaughter, Holly, who had arrived that morning. She weighted in at 7 pounds something. After visiting with his daughter, Amy, the mother of Holly, he then headed over to a local park for his great-grandson's birthday party. Logan was celebrating his 3rd birthday. After the party he went back to the hospital to see Amy and then headed south back to his sister's place. He had a very busy day!

On Monday Bob and his sister, Lynn, left on a 5 night cruise from Ft. Lauderdale. I've had an email or two from him. Sounds like they are having a good time. I'm sure he'll bring home some pictures for us to post.

I've been staying busy by exercising at the new fitness club that I joined. My daughter-in-law, Toddi, and I also went to the movies last week. On Sunday Brian and Toddi came over to watch the superbowl on our big TV.

Today is fairly warm for Wenatchee - in the 40's. But, it's very windy. I was actually able to wash my new car! Check back next week for pictures from Bob's trip.
