Monument Valley

Think of the Westerns - like John Wayne and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon.  A lot of the old western movies were filmed in Monument Valley.  What a beautiful spot.  We camped just outside the Navaho land at Goldings RV park.  Early in the morning we took a drive around the 17 miles trip through the valley.  We evidently missed a turn because we only drove about 10 miles, but by then we had enough of the bumpy ride!

Durango and Silverton train

We finally rode this train.  What a very beautiful trip.  It was a crisp autumn day - a little chilly in the morning, but pretty nice in Silverton. We booked the Knight Sky car.  This is a car with nice reclining weather seats.  Banana Nut bread was served in the morning and caramel corn as a snack in the afternoon.  They also served coffee, cocoa, tea, water, etc all day long.  Plus you could get alcoholic drinks - although we didn't have any.

Zion National Park

Friday, October 7th, 2016 we enjoyed a day at Zion National Park.  It was cold and windy in the morning but soon warmed up for a beautiful day.  We did a couple of hikes.  We took the tram to the end of the line and hiked along the Virgin River.  Next we went to the lodge and did the Emerald Pools Hikes.
