Everett

We’re in the Everett area seeing the grandkids and taking care of a couple of items while here. Last Thursday we took Cody and his girlfriend, Janette, out to dinner at the Olive Garden. We wanted to celebrate his upcoming 17th birthday. Cody is a Halloween baby who was born exactly 21 years after his Uncle Brian.

We also were able to see granddaughter, Nichole. We took her out to lunch at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. Nichole is attending the alternative high school here in Everett. We’re hoping she can graduate in June. She is also working at McDonalds.

We stayed for three nights at the free Tulalip Casino parking lot, then moved to Wenberg State Park for a couple of nights. Washington state has an off-season pass for senior citizens. It’s good from October to March for $50. It then only costs $6.00 a night to stay in the utility sites (with power, water, etc). So, we’re finding this is quite a bargain for us.

The weather is really nice today. We can see the mountains and it is warm (70 degrees) and very sunny. We’re headed south tomorrow. We’re due in Seaside, Oregon by Friday for a square dance event. We’ll stay on the coast for a few days, then head to Vancouver, Washington for another square dance event the first weekend in November.

Our house is making good progress. Brian is going to check on it Thursday, so we’ll hear more on how it’s doing. We’ll be back in Wenatchee by November 5th. We’re hoping to get moved in before the snow flies in the passes. When we came over the pass last Thursday there was about 3 inches of snow on the road at the top of Stevens Pass. This is not fun when you’re towing a 32 foot fifth wheel. But, we made it safely into Everett.

Wenatchee Confluence State Park

Wenatchee, Washington

We’ve moved from Brian and Toddi’s place to Confluence State Park in Wenatchee. The move puts us closer to our new home. We picked out our light fixtures this past week. The house is progressing – with the interior sheetrock completely installed. November 16th is our tentative move-in date.

This weekend was really nice. We had sunny skies with temperatures in the upper 60’s to low 70’s. There was a dog agility competition here in the state park where we’re staying. We wandered over to watch it and learned a lot about the competition. This is where the dogs have to run through a course of tunnels, teeter totters, weave sticks, jump over hurdles, etc. They have different classes – novice, intermediate, excellent (something like that). We mainly watched the novice. We learned from the bystanders some of the rules and thought the whole thing was really fun. The handlers can’t touch the dogs. They run with them through the course shouting commands and giving hand signals. Sometimes the dog will get distracted and just wander off the course (and then it’s disqualified). Turns out they have this same competition here in Wenatchee every October on the same weekend.

Friday night we took Brian and Toddi out for dinner. It was for his upcoming birthday (on Halloween). We’re not going to in the area then, so wanted to have a celebration with them. We’re headed over the pass to Everett this next week. Grandson, Cody, also has a Halloween birthday, so we’ll take him and his girlfriend out for dinner.

Also, on the Brian and Toddi front, we’ve found out that their child will be a boy – due date is March 7th.

Saturday night we attended the Appleland Promenaders’s Anniversary square dance. They brought in a caller from Canada and had a dinner before the dance. It’s nice having people we already know here in our new hometown.

A Happy Day

Today was really gorgeous over here in the Wenatchee area. It was in the mid 60's with no wind and a bright blue sky. We took the truck in to have it looked at because it had lost some of the coolant. But, they can't find anything wrong.

While the truck was being worked on, we headed up to the new house. The wiring is mostly in, the siding is on, and the brick is on. They will be painting the exterior on Monday. The sheetrock is scheduled to be put up next week, along with being taped and textured after that.

We ordered a new range and refrigerator and they want to deliver it. But, we're not ready. We're trying to hold them off until the end of October.

After looking at the house, we took a drive to Leavenworth. It was such a nice day for a drive. We had lunch at our favorite restaurant there - Visconti's. We sat outside and enjoyed the snow capped mountains surrounding Leavenworth. The first snow of the season fell a couple of days ago.

Tonight we're headed into Wenatchee for a square dance. We also went to a plus level dance last Monday evening.
