Our last formal night on the Norway cruise

Norway Fjords cruise

On May 28, 2014 we flew from Seattle to Copenhagen on Icelandair.  It was 7 hours to Iceland and another approx. 3 hours onto Copenhagen.  We overnighted in Copenhagen before the start of our cruise.  That gave us time to walk around Copenhagen the morning of the cruise.  We walked around for about 1 1/2 hours and then did a one hour canal boat tour.

On Friday, May 30th we boarded the Celebrity Infinity for our 14 day Norway Fjords cruise. Our stops included Oslo, Kristansand, Stavenger - all in Norway.  Next stop was the Faroe Islands which is part of Denmark.  Next up was ReykjaviK, Iceland where we overnighted.  We had from 7am one day until 1:00pm the next day.  Next was Lerwick, Scotland on the Shetland Islands.

Our most beautiful stop was Geiranger.  We cruised up the most beautiful of fjords and then docked in the town.  Geiranger has a beautiful waterfall right through the middle of town.  While there we took a bus tour up into the mountains to Mt.Dalsnibba, which is 4,600 feet above sea level and offers breathtaking views.

On every one of these port stops we had the most beautiful warm, sunny weather.  We could not believe how lucky we were.  We had 4 at sea days and one of them was pretty cool and windy.  The last stop on the cruise was Bergen.  We headed out and it was raining.  We walked to the museum where we planned to take a tour and were soaked by the time we arrived.  Fortunately, we dried out, had the tour, and the sun came out.  We were able to take the funicular up for a view of the city after lunch.  All, in all, a good day.

Lerwick, Shetland Islands, Scotland. Lots of beautiful stone buildings

Clickimin Broch in distance. Building dates to the iron age. I guess the grass was greener on the other side of the fence for the horse.
