The big party in Entiat

Connie's son, Brian and his wife threw a big party at their home in Entiat. The party started with the arrival of the parents and grandparents on Friday night. Connie's parents were there along with Toddi's parents. We had a great dinner prepared by Brian. He cooked steakto perfection on the barbecue.

Saturday other guests started arriving. By Saturday night there were two tents pitched in the yard, along with our fifth wheel, Toddi's folks motorhome, Brian's fifth wheel, and Connie's brothers new teardrop trailer.

We were happy to have a friend, Mike, from Everett stop by and have lunch. Also, in the afternoon, Bob's grandson, Daniel, and wife, Tara stopped by for a visit. Unfortuanetly, they weren't able to stay real long as Daniel was getting ready to be shipped to Iraq. But, we were glad to see them.

We had hamburgers and brats for lunch. For dinner we had steak, chicken, and shrimp shiskabobs (sp??). Lots of fruit and of course, those famous macaroons from the bakery down the hill. All in all, it was a really fun get-together.

We've now moved to Yakima to get some repairs done on our fifth-wheel. We went to the Robin William's movie RV. It was pretty funny and a great way to pass the afternoon while waiiting to get our rig back.

Entiat, Washington

Another week has sped on past. We attended the state square dance festival last weekend in Spokane. The weather was cool, but that made it nice for dancing. We danced Friday night, Saturday day, Saturday night, and the trail-out dance on Sunday morning.

We then headed to Entiat - driving across Highway 2 from Spokane. We had dinner Sunday evening with Connie's son and daughter-in-law. We then drove up the Entiat River road on Monday morning to Fox Creek Campground. It's a really beauitful place right on the Entiat river. We did a hike on Wednesday up the Entiat River valley. Thursday morning we packed up and came back to Connie's son's home. Connie's son, Brian, and daughter-in-law, Toddi, are hosting a big party on Saturday. They did a similar party last year and it was lots of fun. We came in early to help Brian with some weeding and other miscellaneous items to help get ready for the party.

Spokane, Washington

Connie has finished her week at Mountain Trek Spa. It was a lot of hard work, but fun also. There was a great group of 12 guests - 10 women and 2 men. The weather was rainy on Thursday, but other days were either sunny or partly cloudy.

One of the hikes Connie went on at Mountain Trek was on an old railroad grade. There she managed to lose her heart monitor strap. Bob was kind enough to drive to the trailhead to look for the strap. After searching for 45 minutes he located it and drove it to her at the lodge. He was the savior that day!! If you want to see the website for Mountain trek it's at www.hiking.com.

Since we weren't due in Spokane until Thursday (June 15th) we spent several days in the Kootenays. Hiked along the river in Kaslo, did the old growth trail trail in Kootenay Glacier Park on Sunday, Fry Creek Canyon on Monday. The Fry Creek trail was alongside a creek that was more like a river. And it had a lot of water. A very noisy and boisterous creek!! On Tuesday, we took the free ferry from Balfour, B.C. and crossed to east side of the lake and then drove south along the lake for 30 miles or so. We entered the USA through Idaho. It was a really beautiful drive. We stopped to do some shopping in Sandpoint, Idaho. We continued onto Fairchild AFB in Spokane.

It's raining here in Spokane, but suppose to get better by tomorrow. We're doing the fun stuff of life - grocery shopping, laundry, handling paperwork, etc.

Thursday will be more fun as we will be moving to the fairgrounds here in Spokane for the state square dance fetival and attending the trial-in dance that evening. We'll be here until Sunday when we head westward toward's Connie's son's home. We might do a little hiking near the Mad River.

Mountain Trek Spa

Connie is at Mountain Trek Spa in the Kootenay Mountains. The experience is wonderful. Every morning a soft knock on the door at 6:00am tells us it's time to get up. We have a small shake and small glass of cranberry juice and off to yoga we for for an hour. Then each day is programmed to do something. We did a fitness walk and hike the first day, the second day we did a bunch of things in the gym, and then an afternoon hike. Third day we did an all day hike that lasted about 4 hours total hiking time. One blister so far, not to bad.

Meanwhile, Bob is staying nearby with Buddy (the cat) at an RV park. More great pictures in our next posting.

Kootenay Mountains, British Columbia

We're here in the mountains near Nelson, B.C. This is north of Spokane. We spent the night last night in Nelson. Beautiful cute town on Lake Kootenay. Now we've driven up lake about 30 miles and are in a campground. Connie starts at Mountain Trek Spa tomorrow - Friday. You can see their website at www.hiking.com.

Connie gets to hike and eat very healthy for a week. Bob gets to fish and take care of himself and Buddy for the week.

This area is really georgous. Large long lake surrounded by mountains and forests. Nice and warm - mid 70's. More on the area in the next blog.
