A busy couple of weekends

We drove to Everett on May 16th to attend a square dance for a couple who were celebrating their 60th anniversary. It was a fun event called by National caller, Gary Shoemake. While in Everett we picked up prescriptions at the Navy base, saw Michelle (daughter), and grandkids (Cody and Nichole). We also picked up a new recliner for our home. So, it was a busy trip.

For Memorial day weekend we drove to Yakima to attend a square dance weekend. We danced Friday night, Saturday morning and Saturday night, Sunday afternoon, and Sunday night. The weather wasn't too hot so it was very enjoyable. The theme for Friday night was 'Around the world', so the music was from different countries. The caller, Brent, has two girls - one 9 and one about 5. On Saturday night one of the girls sang with him and on Sunday night the other one had her turn. They were very cute and quite good singers.

We dropped our fifth wheel off at Circle 8 ranch on the way home. We'll be back over there June 6th for a square dance so there was no point in bringing it back to Wenatchee.

Apple Blossom, Wenatchee

This weekend is the Apple Blossom festival here in Wenatchee. Our square dance club hosts a dance with national caller, Johnny Preston. We danced last night and will dance today, tonight, and tomorrow morning.

Wenatchee takes this Apple Blossom stuff seriously. Starting about 6 weeks ago people started putting our their chairs for the parade that happens this morning. We were in the local car dealership yesterday and noticed that they are closed today, Saturday, for Apple Blossom. Our new health club also has limited hours today as well.

Last Saturday I drove to Seattle to meet up with friends from the bank where I used to work. We met in Seattle, did a walk around Seward Park, then went back to the home of one of the friends for a visit and lunch. It was fun to catch up with everyone. We've decided to plan a girl's getaway. One of our group won a bid at an auction on a wine tasting with appetizers at Maryhill Winery down on the Columbia Gorge. So, we're headed there the last weekend in June and spending the night near there. It should be great fun.

We had a nice visit with our newest family member, Hudson. He is growing well and now weights almost 12 pounds. He is a happy little guy. We thought we were going to be watching him this next week while Toddi had jury duty, but she was able to get out of it. But, I'm sure we'll have another opportunity to watch him.

Last Monday we had an opportunity to attend one of the performances put on by the Wenatchee Community Concert Associaton. Our square dance caller and wife obtained free tickets for us. This was the last performance of the season and it was really great. It was called 'On Broadway'. It was a fast moving, energetic performance that included music from West Side Story, Oklahoma, Chicago, etc. There were 8 performers and 4 in the orchestra. They sang, they danced, they acted, they did it all and it was great. We've signed up for next year's concert series.
