San Jose
After leaving Crater Lake we drove to Travis AFB near the Napa Valley. We spent 2 nights at Travis, which gave us an opportunity to spend Friday touring a few wineries near Napa.
Saturday morning we drove to my cousin’s home in San Jose. We parked our fifth wheel on the street in front of her home for two nights. Saturday afternoon we attended the surprise 50th anniversary party for my Aunt Loraine and Uncle Ron. My three first cousins (Jan, Jim, and John) hosted the party for their parents. Also in attendance were their children. During the party the children (grandchildren of the honorees) each read a prepared statement about why their grandparents were so special to them.
Others in attendance included my mom and dad. My mom is Loraine’s sister. My brother, Steve and his wife, Nancy, flew in from Las Vegas. My aunt’s other sister, Karen along with her husband, John, and two of their children, and one grandchild attended as well. It was a fun get together.
On Sunday, Jan hosted an all day get together. The three sisters had a chance to visit and look over some family albums that I had brought from Wenatchee.
Monday morning we headed to Edwards AFB outside of Bakersfield, California. We spent two nights there and then drove to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. We staying at an RV resort for 5 nights.
Today we took a jet boat trip to the Topock George. The boat ride took us north towards I-40 up the Colorado River. We saw some Indian Petroglyphs, wild burrows, and beautiful scenery.

San Jose, California
We're now in San Jose at my cousin, Jan's home. We came to attend my aunt and uncle's 50th anniversary party on Saturday, February 21st. It was a great surprise party. We couldn't post anything on the blog about heading south as we didn't want my aunt and uncle to know we were headed this way. We're enjoying visiting with the relatives - my mom's two sisters and various cousins, spouses, and kids.
On the way south we stopped at Crater Lake National park. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed a 2.5 mile round trip snowshoe.
We stayed two days at Travis AFB. On Friday, we toured through the Napa valley. There were lots of people out at the wineries and we had a perfect 70 degree day.
We'll be in Lake Havasu by Wednesday the 25th - more in the next blog.
